I am 22 years old, female (and a bit of feminist), Chinese. Born and raised in Mianyang, Sichuan province. Attended university in Shanghai and now work and live here. Sometimes shy until I know people well enough so a true friend of my friends. Hate hypocrites. Lazy. Love easy-going people. Love traveling and envy backpackers. Dream to own a big garden that has lots of plants in it. A total hobby enthusiast. Romantic (just like my favorite poet Li Bai who also grew up in Mianyang), and a  philosophical Taoist.

About the site name:

知 (zhī) means to know/be aware, 悟 (wù) means to comprehend/reflection, digestion, 园 (yuán) means garden/land.  So 知悟园 means a a place where I collect my thoughts of learning and reflections on anything. I try to be as open as possible in everything about me and my life. (except for occasional giving in to censorship)

Also 知悟园 is a homophone (same pronunciation but different word) to 植物园(botanic garden).

About my name: Of course Lucy is not in Chinese. That’s just a name I picked out of a dictionary name list when I started to learn English, because it sounds like my full Chinese name and has a pretty transliteration “露西”. People have been calling me “Lucy” for more than 10 years, while some around me still keeps changing their English names. I mean, IT’S JUST A NAME!

Now, this makes my full English name “Lucy Liu”. And yes I know “Just like the actress Lucy Liu” – I get that a lot - almost every day. This New Yorker’s Chinese name is 刘玉玲(劉玉玲) . I also happen to like her movies.

Google is my GOD, and I’m also a fan of Apple Inc. / 豆瓣 / John Mayer / Julianne Moore / Fernando Torres.

知悟园，一是取insight之“知、悟”意，二是“植物园”谐音，因为本人不喜欢动物（一半是不喜欢一半是觉得人太残忍太造孽），酷爱园艺和植物，渴望有个物产丰富的大院子甚至植物园，除了白兰花树外，里面一定要有槐树、合欢、凤凰木或其他豆科树木。自小爱看书（近几年已荒废许多），自从电脑出现在我的视野中后就已欲罢不能。由于书和电脑均是心灵窗口之大杀伤性武器，故已高度近视。网络乃本人收集爱好资料，了解外界之最佳途径。 生于长于四川绵阳，在上海读完大学后工作。热爱旅行，世界地图、人文风情精通烂熟却没钱周游。生活的一半：音乐，欧美电影〔电影阅历〕， 因此深受欧美文化影响。当然还喜欢上网。狂热福尔摩斯以及推力迷；极客[geek，科技以及挨踢（IT）粉丝]。学过一年半德语，很喜欢德国风格的工业建筑设计，一直以来很像德国人的刻板和严谨（虽然也强烈地受到随性的美国文化影响）。天生的melancholic忧郁者，由于喜爱科幻，加之崇拜《时间简史》，宇宙观在意念中特别强烈，思考问题有着所谓哲学性。具有诗人的爱美、浪漫主义（喜欢老乡东坡和太白）但不具备诗人的才华。严重双重性格，金牛座绝对理性的现实主义，但又是浪漫主义、完美主义者——奇怪的是不喜欢看太离谱的fantasy（比如指环王和哈利波特），乃一狂热科幻迷（迷儒勒·凡尔纳、阿西莫夫、刘慈欣）。讨厌言情小说、大部分中国电影和连续剧（包括香港台湾）。欣赏实力派演员和音乐人，也爱帅锅米女。

HATE: hypocrites；随地吐痰者；扬尘或沙暴天；污浊的空气；吸烟者及任何有烟味之地。

♡ Big Love for movies: Hannibal, 纵横四海, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Day After Tomorrow, S1m0ne, Laws of Attraction, The Man From Earth, School of Rock, Thelma & Louise, Die Hard series, Cloverfield, Wallace & Gromit, Cars… Especially science fiction ones like Minority Report and Bicentennial Man(my all time favorite).
♡ Big Love for music: my western music experience originates from Backstreet boys. Then there’s a lot more following. Country, folk and R&B are my favorites. In fact, I don’t really care about so called genres in music and movies. I like those impressed me the most. Even horror in movies and rap in songs. The ones I love the most in order:
♡ Music: R&B, folk, country, blues, jazz… I like ANYTHING that is rhythmic. John Mayer > Josh Rouse = Dixie Chicks > Gwen Stefanie = Alicia Keys = KT Tunstall = …
♡ Movies: Julianne Moore, Christian Bale, James McAvoy… More at Douban. Favorite Director: Ridley Scott
♡ TV shows: Watched complete Desperate Housewives, 24, Friends, House, Prisonbreak, Sex and the City. More on TV page. (refer to the tags on the right).

♡Sport: Loved tennis several years ago and played well then. Now I do yoga regularly. Once in a while I enjoy belly dancing.  My favorite football Team is Spain National, started from 2002 World Cup and got more involved in 2006 World Cup. Favorite footballer is Fernando Torres. I was hysterical when watching Spain vs. Germany in 2008 Euro Cup and went nuts when Spain won at last with Nando’s goals. It had been a really long wait.
